Water Education

Teach our children well

Water is Western Colorado's most vital resource. By educating both children - and adults - about water, we can ensure that this and future generations will learn to respect the value of water and continue to use water carefully and wisely.

Teachers can find information in this section of our website for K-12 lesson plans, experiments and other classroom materials to assist in teaching a water-oriented curriculum.  Check out Water: The Key to Life in Western Colorado, a 24-minute video about the value and uses of water in Western Colorado produced by the Colorado River District and available at no cost.

New this year is the Colorado River District's first-ever Water Camp. It is set at the Keystone Science School in Summit County for Oct. 10-12. The cost is $25. It is open to West Slope high school students who want to learn first hand about water issues, watersheds and water management. -More information-

We also have copies of the new video "Citizen's Guide to Colorado Water Law," produced by the Colorado Foundation for Water Education. In the video, Colorado Supreme Court Justice Greg Hobbs explains water law and its history. E-mail us at the below address if you want us to send a copy.

The Colorado River District can provide other resources that you may need for your research or lesson plans. Email:  -- we're happy to assist you!
